The response seems to be late but some voices raised against labour reforms at last. But the Ambedkarites remain silent as they had always been on issues other than identity politics while their God DR,BR Ambedkar always addressed the economic issues and had been responsible for all labour laws ensuring constitutional safeguards for working class and women.
Trade unions in Bengal have activated their supporters for am movement against these reforms but the echoes from other parts of the country seem to be missing.

What if Trade unions today strongly protested against some proposed amendments to labour laws saying that these “unilateral” reforms by the Narendra Modi government are anti-worker.

We have been witnessing corporate funded Parliamentary consensus since 1991 and the millionaire Billionair ruling hegemony consisting of Sangh Pariwar and Congress supported by all the forces of Identity Power Politics might not be concerned with Public Causes.
Thus,Press statements would not help to stop this ethnic cleansing at all and the continuity of reforms would be maintained,I am afraid.

However, the Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) calls upon all democratic minded citizens to
join in forcing the government to withdraw this anti-child amendment to our
laws.It is good but not enough. The Left should do everything to unite the working class against the fascist regime of neoliberal children.

Welcome! The Nobel laureateKailash Satyarthi speaks against reforms and demands a complete ban on all forms of labour involving children below 14 years! Meanwhile, the Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) strongly opposes the Union cabinet's approval to legalise child labour in "family enterprises". This is a retrograde measure which legalizes the exploitation
of the labour of children below the age of 14. To suggest that "poverty and
the social fabric of India" justify the use of child labour is to punish
children for their poverty. Instead, people expected this Modi government to
take meaningful measures to ameliorate growing poverty of the majority of
our people.

Nobel laureate Kailash Satyarthi on Saturday demanded a complete ban on all forms of labour involving children below 14 years, against the backdrop of Union cabinet's nod to amend child labour laws to allow children to work in family enterprise.

Unless the whole lot of the working class comes together,we might not stand against reforms drive launched by the Kesaria Corporate fascist regime.

Unless the Left is serious enough to address the majority working class, the Bahujan and in return the Bahujan respond in accordance with the legacy of Baba Saheb,we might not stop this antinational extraconstitutional elements to execute genocide orders.

However it sounds very pleasing that the Nobel Laureate could understand that child labour might not be abolished with Nobel Prize!

Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatreya with the Oil Minister Dharmendra Pradhan meeting the all Central Trade Unions on 10 Point charter of Demands, in New Delhi on May 15, 2015.
Union leaders were of the view that it is quite possible the all central trade unions may decide to go on strike at national convention to be held on May 26.
Twelve unions are attending a meeting today called by the government to discuss their 10-point agenda and issues relating certain proposed amendments to labour laws, which were opposed by them earlier.
“These labour reforms are unilateral and anti-worker. We are most likely to decide the date for nationwide strike at national convention of central trade union on May 26,” All India Trade Union Congress Secretary D L Sachdev, who is attending the meeting, said.
Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatreya is discussing issues flagged by unions with them. Power Minister Piyush Goyal, Oil Minister Dharmendra Pradhan joined Dattatreya later.
“This government is not giving any heed to labour issues. Two of the ministers came late. They are not dealing with labour issues,” Centre of Indian Trade Unions President A K Padmanabhan said, who is also attending the meeting.
Hind Mazdoor Sabha Secretary A D Nagpal, another leader present in the meeting, said: “The central trade unions are likely to decided the date of strike on May 26. We have been opposing these so called labour reforms.”

As the CPIM Polit Bureau statement says that Modi government's economic reforms promote 'outsourcing'. Many developed industries farm out work to contractors who further farm out work to
families who work round the clock at exploitative rates. This is in addition
to other trades such as bidi making, agarbattis, carpet weaving etc., where
children are forced to work. Since it is impossible to regulate "family
enterprises" such an amendment will open the floodgates for the rampant use
of child labour, ensuring free flow of foreign capital, complete  privatization, complete FDI raj, complete disinvestment, complete deregulation and complete decontro regime is all set to kill the working class.

As the CPIM Polit Bureau statement says that coming as it does in the wake of the severe cuts in the budgetaryallocations for children's development, the proposed amendment exposes the
callous approach of this government to children's rights.

The fight is awaited by the people of India, mind you.Without a pan Indian vision,we may not be able to break this bloddy religious polarization to accomplish the agenda of Hindu Imperism, the ethnic cleansing and depopulation of the working class.

On the other hand, the RSS government has fielded three union ministers—Bandaru Dattatreya, Piyush Goyal and Dharmendra Pradhan --to pacify central trade unions which are up in the arm against the proposed changes in labour laws and pushing for their 10-point agenda. As media reports.

The Centre convened a meeting of representatives of 12 trade unions after they called a national convention for direct action, including a strike on May 26, coinciding with the first anniversary of the Narendra Modi government.

At the meet, trade unions lodged a strong protest against some of the proposed amendments to labour laws saying these "unilateral" reforms by the government are 'anti-worker'.

The union leaders said it is quite possible that all central trade unions may decide to go on strike at the national convention.

"This government is not giving any heed to labour issues. Two of the ministers came late. They are not dealing with

labour issues," said Centre of Indian Trade Union (CITU) President A K Padmanabhan.

The central trade unions' 10-point agenda includes demands like steps to deal with issues like price rise and unemployment. Providing universal social security cover for workers and stopping disinvestment of PSUs are also part of demands.

The unions have added two more demands in the charter--scrapping the decision to allow foreign investment in railways and defence and "unilateral" changes in labour laws.

They are opposing several proposed changes in labour laws, saying these would encourage hire and fire, make it tougher to make labour unions and dilute the existing social security net available to the workers.

BHOPAL:  Nobel laureate Kailash Satyarthi today demanded a complete ban on all forms of labour involving children below 14 years, against the backdrop of Union Cabinet's nod to amend Child Labour Law to allow them to work in family enterprise.

The child right activist said providing education to all children in society is the key to put an end to this practice.

"Because of child labour there is poverty, illiteracy and sickness in the world and it is very essential to provide education to them as it can effectively eradicate child labour from world," said Mr Satyarthi, founder of 'Bachpan Bacahao Andolan' at a function in Bhopal.

He was in Bhopal to attend the 'amrit mahotsav' (turning of 75 years) function of educationist Surendranath Dube.

Referring to the proposed Child Labour (Prohibition & Regulation) Bill 2012, he demanded a total ban on employing children below 14 in all kinds of profession.

He demanded a complete ban on employment of children in the age group of 15-18 in all forms hazardous industries unlike in only 18 industries which used to be the case.

The existing Child Labour Law which was framed in 1986 has many loopholes, he said, adding the proposed bill will plug them and have more stringent provisions.

"We demanded that in the cases of violation, provision of awarding stringent punishment and heavy fines should be done in the proposed new bill to which Union cabinet has recently given its nod," Mr Satyarthi said.

"I have demanded from Labour Minister that the list of 18 hazardous industries should not be brought down under any circumstances and that it should be enhanced further by identifying more such industries," he said.
