BBC Radio Covers Bapu Surat Singh's Hunger Strike , why is Indian Media Silent ?
BBC Asia covered the issue of 85 year old Bapu Surat Singh's hunger strike for the release of Sikh political prisoners. 2 Sikh activists were interviewed to spread awareness of Bapu Ji's issue Manjit Kaur Kang and Jas from the Sikh Federation UK.
Bapu Surat Singh is now on his 124th day of his hunger strike to death. The demand of Bapu Ji is the release of Sikh political prisoners who've completed their required sentences.
When asked why there are more and more hunger strikes related to Sikh issues. Manjit Kaur Kang stated the issue is a humanitarian issue rather than a Sikh issue but since the prisoners don't have political backing they suffer in jails.
