JOINT ACTION COMMITTEE FOR SOCIAL JUSTICE(UoH) STATEMENT dated 28th August 2016.

JOINT ACTION COMMITTEE FOR SOCIAL JUSTICE(UoH) STATEMENT dated 28th August 2016.
Joint Action Committee for Social Justice condemns the cancellation of permission by the Telangana State police for the Maha Dharna which is organised by the Struggle and Solidarity for Justice for Rohith Vemula on the 29th of this month in the strongest possible terms.
This is not the first time that the TRS government has taken such a regressive step. After the continued protests in the University of Hyderabad campus, the city and all over the country after Rohith was institutionally murdered since 17th of January, KCR had made false promises of putting forward the issue to the attention of the Prime Minister and see that justice is done. These are the same people who invited Appa Rao Podile, the main accused in the case, for Haritha Haram event in the university campus. Not only that, Appa Rao Podile was also called as a distinguished guest in an event of book launch by the Department of Language and Culture under the Telangana government. All these actions of the TRS government clearly illustrates their position on the movement for Justice for Rohith Vemula.
KCR is doing justice only to his family members, his RSS-BJP-sangh parivar masters, and his new Andhra Kamma friends, and has completely forgotten how Telangana was formed by students movements and how he had promised justice for Dalits and other oppressed communities in Telangana if elected to power. The hypocrisy of this government which came to power through the numerous rallies where large number of students marched on the streets. He along with his kamma friends might try to stifle the democratic Dalit movements across the country, but they cannot stop the fire lit by Rohith, the voices from the margins which have challenged the prominence of the center strongly!
The venue for the Maha Dharna organised by the Struggle and Solidarity Committee for Justice for Rohith Vemula has therefore been shifted to Prakasham Hall, behind Gandhi Bhavan, Nampally.
Please join us at 10:00 am at the Maha Dharna tomorrow!
